Atlantic Kelp & Magnesium Body Range by REN

I first heard about the Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Body Range from REN at my 40th birthday party in January when my dear friend David Delport was pouring me a glass of prosecco. David has been in the beauty business for as long as I have and now is the Head of Education for REN. He was telling me about this new range he had been working on that involved Kelp and magnesium. I was intrigued by this idea. You don’t tend to see popular brands come up with this sort of concept for the body. I have known David for about 16 years. We lived together before I met my husband.

David was always coming up with interesting concoction in our shared bathroom to use as bath oil and body care so it seemed like a natural progression for him to develop such a fascinating range. I say fascinating because the Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium line works on the simple ideas of detoxifying the cells in the body which in turn revitalize and re-energizes the skin (not the face like we are used to seeing). David was so passionate about the range, it was the talk of the party and everyone came up to me as they were leaving saying they absolutely had to try it out themselves and couldn’t wait for the launch. REN have added benefits like Atlantic seaweed and sea kelp that they have used for generation of in West Ireland for bathing as well as a restorative food source. REN has harnessed the power of this seaweed to fight fatigue, stress and pollution. The Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Body Range works by restoring the body balance of magnesium and other trace elements, as well as supporting the cells energy levels. Magnesium is the antidote to stress and helps our bodies function better and it’s a mineral that is easily absorbed into the skin. David’s top tip was to pour a capful of the Atlantic Kelp and Microalgae Anti-Fatigue Bath Oil under the tap while running a bath then to use the Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Salt Anti-Fatigue Body Scrub to massage the body before slipping into your warm bath. The oils from the body scrub would melt instantly moisturizing the body.

Ok, I was sold! Yes please, I was going to try that as soon as I got home. David talked about the importance of self-care and how we as a western culture take it for granted. This is true. We do everything quick, we want every quick, you can even buy moisturizing body spray because we don’t have time moisturize ourselves. This is true. I had some of those sprays but they dried my skin out. Anyway, as a woman, a mother and a wife I have discovered that I need to set aside some time for self-care on a regular basis. When I am stressed out there is nothing better than a warm bath. I get all excited. I find a nice towel, I pour some of my Atlantic Kelp and Microalgae Anti-Fatigue Bath Oil under the tap and I massage my Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Salt Anti-Fatigue Exfoliating Body Scrub and sink into the bath for at least 20 minutes. I do wish that REN called the exfoliating body scrub a balm because it isn’t what you think a scrub is. More balm in texture but a beautiful product. I lock myself away from my children and my husband and read a book there or listen to some relaxing music. My husband even notices how my mood changes and is often saying “you go have a bath darling!”, he probably needs some peace and quiet too.

Is this range going to be presents for friends and family members birthday? Yes! My 7 year-old daughter loves the hand soap, my mum loves the hand cream and I haven’t shown my husband the body wash in case I lose that!

The Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Body Range comes in an Anti-Fatigue body wash, body cream, bath oil and exfoliating scrub and has an energizing hand wash and hand lotion. Its available in Space NK and www.renskincare.com. David can be found on twitter @REN_David and Instagram @amodernwanderer so follow him and told him Nina sent you.

Let me know if you have tried it? Your thoughts? Do you want to see David on an episode of #Ninasmakeupfix?
